JI030 – Koa Concert Uke – SOLD
I’m just going to say it: JI030 is an awesome. It features a totally wild 1 piece koa top that I found on my last trip to Atlanta. I actually purchased an extra carry on bag at a thrift store to bring back a stash of wood even though we were technically visiting family for the holidays and not on a business trip. The koa top is laminated to a black walnut back with a wenge accent stripe. What do you pair with a body like that? An Asian ebony fretboard with equally stunning grain, koa headstock overlay, and a lightly flamed quarter sawn maple neck.
The electronics on this uke are pretty straight forward. A custom “Joyner Model T” pickup designed and wound by Warp Core Pickups runs through a volume and tone control to the integrated strap button jack. Even with only 1 pickup, this uke has voices for days. Want a bright crisp sound? Volume and tone all the way up. What about a mellower jazzy sound? Roll a little bit off the volume and take the tone to about halfway. Metal crunch? Crank everything to 11 and stomp on your overdrive pedal!
